Eid return journey: Stranded for hours at ferry ghats

People are returning to their workplaces in Dhaka after the Eid vacations. Their suffering knew no bounds as their transports stranded for hours at the ferry ghats.

The overflow of passenger buses and others transports have created a huge pressure at the Daulatdia-Paturia and Kawrakandi- Simulia ferry ghats today, making a huge gridlock on the linking roads.
 
A 10-kilometre long traffic gridlock created from ferry ghat zero point to Khankhanapur Choto Bridge area while another 2-kilometre long traffic gridlock created from Goalundo Mor to Bashantapur Nimtola area this afternoon.

Meanwhile, an 8-kilometre long traffic jam created at Kawrakandi- Simulia ferry ghat area this afternoon, pushing the passengers into serious sufferings.

The drivers of the passenger-buses were asked to use alternative route to reach Dhaka considering the present situation of the ferry ghat, said Md Shah Newaz, a Sergeant of Trafic Police in Goalundo ghat.  

The public and private offices opened on Thursday after six-day Eid holidays, but only a handful of vacationers returned to the cities on Thursday as the weekends started after one-day office on Thursday.

Mainly, they are returning to the capital today to present their respective office on Sunday morning which pushed the huge pressure at the ferry ghats as well as on the highways.
