Publishing BB heist report delayed

Government will take more time to publish the probe body report on the cyber heist of Bangladesh Bank's (BB) account with New York's Federal Reserve Bank as the process for recovering the money is underway, said Finance Minister AMA Muhith today.

 

"A case is underway in the Philippines to recover the whole money . . .the recovery process can be upset to some extent if the report is published in this time," he told the journalists after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on government Purchase (CCGP) at the cabinet division, reports BSS.

 

Earlier, Muhith said the probe report of BB cyber heist will be published on September 22 before his departure for Saudi Arabia and Washington DC. 

 

The decision was taken after having discussion with the law minister and attorney general, said the minister, adding that "It will take some time but it will be published once." 

 

Muhith expressed the hope that the whole amount of heist money would be possible to bring back soon as the government has taken time-befitting steps to recover the money, and said "At first, I thought that the money could not be possible to bring back, but now Bangladesh will able to bring back 100 percent of the heist money." 

 

He thanked the Philippines government for taking immediate measures to recover the money.
