Ambulance runs over 3 at DMCH

Three persons including a mother and her son were killed as an ambulance ran them over in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the city.

The incident took place at the emergency entrance of DMCH on Saturday morning, Shahbagh Police Station OC Abu Bakr Siddiqui told Samakal.

The OC said the ambulance hit seven people at the entrance of the hospital at around 9:00am, leaving two dead on the spot and five others injured.

The injured were admitted to the hospital, said the OC adding that police seized the ambulance.

The dead has been identified as Goleynur Begum, 25 and her 7-year-old son 'Sakib' while the third victim is yet to be identified.

DMCH police camp's Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia said the speeding ambulance entered the DMCH premises and rammed into a rickshaw before hitting the people.

Sakib died on the spot while his mother succumbed to her injuries around 3:00pm, he added.   

Goleynur Begum’s husband Ferdous said that they came from Patuakhali two days ago to treat his son Sakib for injuries sustained in a road accident.
