One held over Nazimuddin Samad’s murder

Police have arrested a man in connection with killing of online activist and Jagannath University (JnU) student Nazimuddin Samad.

Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), this morning said police arrested  a man named Rashidun Nabi for his suspected connection with the murder.

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit of DMP and the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested him in a drive from Saidabad area of Dhaka, he said.

Details in this regard will be made available through a press conference later in the day, he added.

Earlier on April 6, a group of assailants swooped on Samad at Ikrampur of Sutrapur in the capital and hacked and shot him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.

Later, Sub-Inspector of Sutrapur Police Station Nurul Islam filed the case accusing 4-5 unidentified miscreants in this connection.
