RU student’s body found in campus gutter

The body of a Rajshahi University student was found in a gutter behind the university's Nawab Abdul Latif Hall on Thursday morning.

Identified as Motaleb Hossain Lipu, the deceased was a 2nd year student of Mass Communication and Journalism at the university and a resident of room 253 at the hall. He was hailed from Jhenidah.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police's (RMP) Deputy Commissioner Amir Jafar confirmed the matter to Samakal.

“Primarily we are assuming that it is a murder and after the autopsy, we will know the real cause of the dead,” he added.

Witnesses said a worker had spotted the body in the gutter behind Latif Hall around 8:00am and informed the police immediately.

Police recovered the body around 8:45am and sent it to the Rajshahi Medical College morgue for autopsy.
