Japan withdraws caution for citizens: Muhith

The Japan authorities have withdrawn the travel alert that was declared for the safety movement of their citizens here in Bangladesh after the gruesome attack at Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan on July 1.

 

Finance Minister AMA Muhith made the disclosure while chatting with reporters at his secretariat office in the capital this noon.

 

The Finance Minister’s information came after he returned from Japan in an official visit there. 

 

Earlier after the attack the United States, Australia and South Korea have also urged their citizens to avoid the area around the restaurant at Gulshan-2 in the city.

 

According to the report the US citizens have also been advised to remain vigilant in their movements and activities, inside the diplomatic enclave and anywhere else in Bangladesh.

 

The South Korean Embassy in Dhaka also issued a travel advisory for its citizen living in Bangladesh after the cruel attack.

 

Twenty hostages -- nine Italians, seven Japanese, one Indian, one Bangladeshi American and two Bangladeshis -- were killed in the terror attack at Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan on July 1.

 

Besides, two senior police officers-Banani Police Station officer-in-charge Salauddin Ahmed Khan and Detective Branch assistant commissioner Robiul Islam were killed when they tried to rescue the hostages.
