CEC thanks all for peaceful NCC polls

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad has thanked all for holding a fair, peaceful and credible election at Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC).

After the voting ended this afternoon, the CEC told reporters that no allegation of irregularities was received for the first time in the country’s election history where political parties have taken part.

“I thank the voters, law enforcers and all those performed various duties for helping to hold the election in a fair, peaceful and credible manner,” he said at a press conference at his election commission secretariat in the capital.

Vote counting is going on at the centers right now and if anyone will try to create anomalies then he/she will be marked as rough-neck, said the CEC.

According to media reports, voters from all walks of life have exercised their voting rights in NCC polls with enthusiasm and without any intimidation from both sides.

The voting was started in the 174 polling centres at 8:00am and continued until 4:00pm.
