Ashkona raid: 2 killed in suicide blasts

Two people killed themselves in suicide blasts to evade arrest during a police raid on a militant den at Ashkona in capital’s Uttara area on Saturday.  

“A woman and a teenage boy have blown themselves up,” Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told journalists while visiting the scene adding that the raid has been ended.    

Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) started the raid at the three-storey house named ‘Surjavila’ early today while they ended the drive around 3:45pm.   

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia this noon told the journalists at a press briefing on the spot that four militants have surrendered and three others still inside the house.

Those who surrendered are- Jebunnahar Shila, wife of ex-army Major Zahid, who was killed in a 'gunfight' with law enforcers at Roopnagar in the capital on September 2 last, her daughter and wife and daughter of Neo JMB leader Musa, police said.
