Instruct doctors to write prescriptions clearly: HC asks govt

The High Court has asked the health ministry to issue a circular by 30 days directing the doctors to write prescriptions clearly as the names of the medicines can be realised.

The HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman came up with the order on Monday following a writ petition.

Besides, the HC also ruled that why the doctors won’t be directed to write medicines’ generic names in the prescriptions.

The secretary to the health ministry, director general of the health directorate and five others have been asked to come up with explanations by four weeks.

Inspired by a report in a national daily in this regard, Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh filed the writ petition last week.

Lawyer Manzill Murshed moved for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Mokhlesur Rahman represented the state in today’s hearing.
