Prime suspect of MP Liton murder held: RAB

The prime suspect in the murder of Gaibandha-1 (Sundarganj) lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton has been arrested, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) said.

RAB-1 Commanding Officer (CO) Lieutenant Colonel Tuhin Muhammad Masud on Thursday told Samakal that ruling party PM Liton murder prime suspect Ashraful Islam and his associate Jahirul Islam have been arrested.

Ashraful and Jahirul were nabbed from capital’s Badda area on Wednesday night, he said adding that Ashraful is the son of Sundarganj upazila unit Jamaat chief Hazi Yunus.

Liton was shot at point blank range by some miscreants at his village home at Masterpara in Bamandanga union of Sundarganj Upazila on December 31.

The MP was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
