Arafat Sunny lands in jail

A Dhaka court on Tuesday sent national cricketer Arafat Sunny to jail in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.

Rejecting his bail plea, Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jakir Hossain Tipu passed the order on Tuesday.

Police produced Sunny before the court around 3:00pm on completion of his one-day remand.

Earlier on Sunday, Metropolitan Magistrate Pranab Kumar put Arafat Sunny on a one-day remand in the case filed by Nasrin Sultana, who claims to be Sunny’s wife.

On January 5, Nasrin filed the case under the ICT Act accusing Sunny of posting offensive photographs using a fake facebook account.

Police arrested the national cricketer from Aminbazar area of Savar upazila on January 22.

Yesterday, Nasrin filed another case against Sunny claiming that he sought Tk 20 lakh dowry.
