Search body meets 12 eminent citizens

The search committee formed for reconstitution of the Election Commission, met with 12 eminent personalities in the country.
In a bid to talk over the formation of Election Commission, the meeting was started with them at Supreme Court Judges' Lounge at 4pm while ended around 6pm on Monday.
Earlier, yesterday, a letter was sent to the 12 citizens requesting them to attend the meeting today.
The 12 eminent citizens are – former High Court judge Md Abdur Rashid, Dhaka University Prof Dr AK Azad Chowdhury, Prof Dr SMA Fayez, Serajul Islam Choudhury, Advocate Sultana Kamal, former Chief Election Commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda, former Election Commissioner Sohul Hussain, former Election Commissioner Sakhawat Hussain, Dr. Tofail Ahmed, secretary of Shushasoner Jonno Nagorik Badiul Alam Majumdar, Dhaka University Prof Abul Quasem Fazlul Huq and former inspector general of police Nurul Huda.
Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has recently been made the chief of search committee formed for reconstitution of the Election Commission.
The other members of the six-member committee are- High Court division Judge Obaidul Hassan, Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh Masud Ahmed, Bangladesh Public Service Commission Chairman Dr Muhammed Sadique, Dhaka University Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam and Chittagong University Pro-Vice Chancellor Shireen Akhter.
President, however, held month-long talks with the political parties of the country on the formation of a new EC. President held talks with political parties, including the ruling Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party (Ershad).
