Shimul killers won’t be spared: Home boss

Those who are involved in the murder of journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul will not be spared, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has voiced.

"Those who committed the killing won't go scot free ... they must be tracked down and brought to the justice despite their power and influence," he said adding that the government has announced ‘zero tolerance’ policy against the terrorists and terror activities.

The minister came up with the remarks while responding the queries of journalists after attending the prize giving ceremony of annual sports and cultural competition of IPH School and College at Mohakhali in Dhaka on Saturday.


If the involvement of Shahjadpur Municipality Mayor Halimul Haque Miru with the killing will be proved … he must be arrested as no one is above the law, said Asaduzzaman.    

Samakal Journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul sustained bullet wounds during a clash between the supporters of ousted Shahjadpur Municipality Awami League president Abdur Rahim (VP Rahim) and the party unit's Organisational Secretary and Mayor Halimul Haque Miru in Monirampur area of Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur on Thursday.

Shimul succumbed to his injuries around 1:00pm on Friday while being taken to Dhaka from Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogra for better treatment.
