Babul Akhter will be detained if allegations found: Home boss

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said, if specific allegations are found against the former police superintendent Babul Akhter, he will be held in connection with his wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu’s murder case.

 

The home boss made the assertion while chatting with journalists after a program at the Tejgaon Adasha School and College, in the capital today.

 

‘If we find certain allegations against the former SP, he will not be spared at any rate,’ the minister told the newsmen.

 

A Chittagong court, earlier, framed the charges against two accused in the case filed over the killing of former police superintendent Babul Akhter’s wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu.

 

Some unidentified miscreants gunned down wife of the superintendent of police at GEC intersection area under Panchlaish thana of Chittagong on June 5 morning, in 2016.

 

The Superintendent of Police was in Dhaka during the murder as he was promoted as police super just one month before the murder incident.

 

The miscreants gunned down Mahmuda Khanam at the area when she went there to drop her son, Mahir Akhter, 7, for a bus to Chittagong Cantonment Public School and College on the day.
