Jihad's death: 4 get 10-year jail term each

A Dhaka court sentenced four persons to 10 years imprisonment each in a case over the death of a minor boy Jihad, who fell into an abandoned deep tube-well in capital's Shahjahanpur.

Dhaka Special Judge-5 Dr Akhtaruzzaman passed the order on Sunday.

The court also slapped a fine of Tk 200,000 for each. In default, they have to spend another two years in jail.

The death row convicts are: railway Senior Sub-Assistant Engineer Jahangir Alam, who was in charge of the project, the contractor Abdus Salam, Assistant Engineer Md Nasir Uddin and Electric Engineer Abu Zafar Ahmed Shaki.

On December 26 in 2014, four-year-old Jihad has been found dead inside the abandoned 600-ft deep tube-well of the Bangladesh Railway in capital's Shahjahanpur Railway Colony.
