Public transports start faring

After two days of immense suffering of the commuters across the country, the public transports started faring the passengers.

Several buses left capital’s Gabtoli bus terminal this afternoon after Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan’s urge to the workers to ‘go back to work’.

Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association (BRTOA) Secretary General Enayet Ullah said, “We took the decision to start transporting from all the terminals.”

Earlier this noon, Minister Shajahan Khan, also the executive president of BRTOA, at a press briefing at Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Malik Samity office in Motijheel urged workers to ‘go back to work’ what he said “receiving assurances from the government”.


Earlier, Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation started observing an indefinite strike in 10 districts of Khulna division since Sunday protesting the jail term of a bus driver for a road crash that killed Tareque Masud, Mishuk Munier and three others in 2011.

The federation started indefinite strike across the country on Tuesday morning without preannouncement following a court verdict that awarded driver Mir Hossain Miru to death in a case filed over a road crash that left a woman dead in Savar on 2003.
