7 transport workers remanded

A total of seven transport workers have been placed for one-day remand for each over yesterday’s clash with police and vandalism in the street at Gabtoli area during transport strike.
Additional Magistrate Alamgir Kabir of CMM court in Dhaka has passed the order after conducting a hearing in this regard on Thursday.
Investigation Officer of the case, SI Jobaer, has produced them before the court and sought seven-day remand for each.
The accused are- Rafikul, Hasanur, Robin, Shohel, Fazle Rabbi, Al Amin and Anamul.
Earlier a youth, who sustained bullet injuries during clashes with cops at Gabtoli on the day, succumbed to his injuries.
He was initially taken to a local hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition.
Later, he was taken to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the hospital. The doctors declared him dead on the day evening.
Meanwhile, during the clash at Gabtoli transport workers claimed that the youth was Shah Alam, 32, a driver of Baishakhi Poribahan but it is not clear till now.
Witnesses said the trouble began when some transport workers prevented some anti-strike workers from taking their vehicles out to the streets on Wednesday.
As the fight escalated, the law enforcers charged baton and dispersed the protesters, leaving some of them injured.
