'BNP won’t boycott polls for risk of reg lose'

Having the risk of losing registration as a political party, the BNP won’t boycott the next parliamentary elections, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said.

Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, came up with the assertion at a media briefing at the party chief’s political office in capital’s Dhanmondi on Friday marking Mahila Awami League’s national conference.  

“I think BNP will participate in the next national election as the party has the risk that its registration may be canceled if they boycott polls,” said Obaidul Quader.

When responding a query, the AL leader said, “The next parliamentary elections will be held in due time whether any party take part or not.”

Citing constitution and election wait for none, he said, “As the January 5 election did not stop, it won’t be stopped this time, even if no one comes."
