One more held over journo Shimul murder

The detained is identified as- Bipul Sheikh, 25.

 

Police arrested him from Rup Para area under Shahjadpur municipality on Tuesday evening.

 

Shahjadpur thana Sub-Inspector and IO of the case, Munir Hossain, has confirmed this to Samakal.

 

Earlier another accused, named Tufan Mondal, was also held in the case.

 

Tufan was arrested from Chuniakhalipara area of Shahjadpur on early Saturday.

 

One of the aides of Sirajganj's Shahjadpur municipality Mayor Halimul Haque Miru, was detained in a case filed in connection with the murder of journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul.

 

The aide was identified as Dulal Hossain, 42.

 

Mayor Halimul Haque Miru was also held in connection with the murder.

 

Samakal Journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul sustained bullet wounds during a clash between the supporters of ousted Shahjadpur Municipality Awami League president Abdur Rahim (VP Rahim) and the party unit's Organizational Secretary and Mayor Halimul Haque Miru in Monirampur area of Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur on Feb 2.

 

Shimul succumbed to his injuries later on while being taken to Dhaka from Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogra for better treatment on the following day.
