Khaleda's reinvestigation plea in graft case rejected

The High Court (HC) dismissed the plea of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to reinvestigate a portion of the allegation regarding money source in Zia Orphanage Graft case against her.

 

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim passed the order on Thursday after the hearing ended on Wednesday.

 

Khaleda Zia filed the revision petition on March 1 seeking the reinvestigation after the court's rejection of her plea on February 2.

 

Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan on behalf of the Anti-Corruption Commission said after the rejection the hearing will continue as per rules.

 

On the other hand, Advocate Abdur Razzaque Khan appeared for Khaleda said they will appeal against the decision.

 

The ACC filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on July 3, 2008 with Ramna Police Station accusing Khaleda Zia, her eldest son Tarique Rahman, now living in the UK after securing bail, and four others for misappropriating over Tk 21. 0 million (2.10 crore) that came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.
