Probe body formed over Malibagh girder collapse

A three-member committee was formed to probe into the girder collapse at Moghbazar-Mouchak flyover construction site that left one dead and two more injured in the early hours on Monday.

After visiting the spot on Monday, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon said a probe committee headed by Mouchak-Malibagh Flyover Project Supervisor Engineer Abul Kalam Azad has been formed to look into the accident.

The Mayor also assured of taking up legal actions against those responsible for the collapse of a girder of the under-construction flyover in Malibagh rail gate area.

"No mercy would be shown to those responsible for the collapse incident," he told the journalists while visiting the spot.

He also assured of bearing treatment cost of the wounded and providing financial help to the victim’s family members.

A worker was killed and two others, including a construction engineer, were injured as a girder of Moghbazar-Mouchak flyover collapsed near Malibagh rail gate area in city early today.

The injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
