Home Economics College students block roads again

Students of Home Economics College on Tuesday staged demonstrations blocking city's Nilkhet intersection in the second straight day demanding the college to be declared as an institute of Dhaka University.

They started the demonstration at around 10:50pm, disrupting vehicular movement in the city roads.

The vehicular movements in Mirpur road, Azimpur, Dhaka University and New Market gate No. 1 have been come into a halt following the blockade.

On September 21 last year, they submitted a memorandum to the education minister, DU vice chancellor, University Biology faculty dean and Home Economics College principal in this regard.

Later on October 4, the education minister assured them to meet their demand after a nine-hour blockade at Nilkhet intersection. A committee was also formed to this effect but no result came till now.

On Saturday, hey started the demonstration in front of their college at Nilkhet on Azimpur road with the same demand and announced to continue the programme until their demands are met.
