Home Economics College students to demo Wednesday

Students of Home Economics College will stage demonstrations in city on Wednesday demanding the college to be declared as an institute of Dhaka University.

They also blocked the road for three hours on Tuesday to press their demand that stopped the vehicular movement through Nilkhet intersection resulting immense sufferings to the city dwellers.

Student representative Shammi Soma told Samakal that they started their peaceful demonstration from 10:45am. They suspended their classes and examinations from March 11.

New Market Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Atiqur Rahman told Samakal that police did not make any hindrance to observe protest. However, they withdrew their demonstration around 2:15pm.

On September last year, the submitted a memorandum to the education minister, DU vice chancellor, University Biology faculty dean and Home Economics College principal in this regard.

Later on October 4, the student backed up after nine hours blockade on assurance of the authorities. They also formed a committee but no result came till now.

On Saturday, the college students restarted their protest on the same demand.
