Businessman shot dead in city

A businessman was gunned down in front of his organization in Gendaria's Shamibagh area of the city on Thursday noon.

The deceased was identified as Zakir Hossain, 30, owner of Zakir Enterprise of the area and son of Emadul Haque.

Gendaria Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Kazi Mizanur Rahman confirmed the matter to Samakal.

He said some miscreants shot Zakir in the area, leaving him criminally injured. He was taken to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where he died around 2:00pm.

Deceased father said Zakir was involved with Chhatra Dal politics and some miscreants demanded ransom from him. He might be killed in this connection.
