PM Hasina visits Ajmer Sharif Dargah

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has visited the shrine of Sufi Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, known as the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, in Rajasthan of India.

The Air India plane carrying her took off from Palam Air Base of New Delhi at 8:30am on Sunday local time for the city of Jaipur, capital of the Rajasthan state.

PM Hasina was flown to the town of Ajmir by a helicopter from there. She was received by the shrine authorities upon her arrival around 10:00am. Later, she offered ziarat at the Dargah.  

Hasina will return to Delhi from Ajmir in the afternoon. She will meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan this afternoon. Then, she will meet India President Pranab Mukherjee.

Later on, a cultural programme will be held there. PM Hasina also joined the diner hosted by the President Mukherjee in honour of the Bangladesh premier.

Sheikh Hasina, now in New Delhi on a four-day official visit to India, was accorded a warm ceremonial reception by Indian Premier Narendra Modi at the Forecourt of Rastrapati Bhaban on Saturday morning.

PM Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi met in Delhi yesterday, signing 22 agreements including a 500 million dollar line of credit to Dhaka for the purchase of military hardware, the first such agreement of its kind between the two countries.

India also extended another 4.5 billion dollars in a line of credit to Bangladesh for infrastructure projects, taking the total line of credit extended by India to over 8 billion dollars over the last few years.

Sheikh Hasina also paid homage to Father of the Nation of India Mahatma Gandhiby by placing a wreath at the altar of the Samadhi (memorial) of Mahatma Gandh at Rajghat yesterday morning.

Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, however, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Rashtrapati Bhaban on Friday afternoon, on the first day of her visit.

Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi on Friday on a four-day official visit at the invitation of her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

She is scheduled to return home tomorrow (Monday).
