CCTV camera mandatory at all puja mandaps: Home Minister

Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, the home minister, stated on Sunday that all puja mandaps must have CCTV cameras installed in order to ensure security during the approaching Durga Puja, the biggest religious celebration of the Hindu community.

After attending a meeting on law and order during Durga Puja, the minister was speaking with reporters at his secretariat office.

On October 13 of last year, during Nanua Dighir Par Puja, a man placed the Holy Quran inside the mandap, which sparked racial attacks on Hindu households around the nation as well as Durga Puja mandaps.

Iqbal Hossain, 35, a resident of Cox's Bazar's Sujanagar area in Cumilla City Corporation, was detained by a police force.

Asaduzzaman stated during today's briefing that the government requested the organizers to place enough volunteers at the mandaps.

The home boss promised to keep an eye on social media and take action if anyone started spreading rumors there.
