Prices of rice, dal, flour to be fixed by Ministry of Agriculture: Tipu Munshi

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said that the Ministry of Agriculture has the authority to fix the prices of rice, flour, pulses and eggs. 

As a result, the price determination of these products will now be discussed with the Ministry of Agriculture and a decision will be taken in this regard.

Tipu Munshi added that his ministry does not have the authority to fix prices of products other than edible oil and sugar.

The Minister of Commerce said this in an event organized at the National Press Club on Saturday. Overseas Correspondents Association Bangladesh (OCAB) organized the event.

In response to a question, he said whether eggs will be imported from India depends on the situation. 

“If the market is abnormal, it may turn to import. But besides considering the consumers, we also have to think about the producers. It involves employment and bank loans.”
