EC approves draft project of Tk8,711 crore to buy EVMs

The Election Commission has approved the draft project of Tk8,711 crore to buy 2 lakh electronic voting machines (EVMs).

This approval was given in a meeting of the Election Commission on Monday.

After the meeting of the commission at noon on Monday, Election Commissioner Alamgir confirmed this information.

He said that the project will now be sent to the Planning Commission for government approval.

After scrutiny by the Planning Commission, it will be taken up for approval at the meeting of National Economic Council Executive Committee (ECNEC).

Apart from this, expenditure has been kept for maintenance of EVMs, manpower creation and their training.
