IGP Benazir Ahmed going on retirement

The post-retirement leave (PRL) for Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed has been approved.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a notification in this regard on Thursday.

In accordance with the Public Service Act of 2018, IGP Benazir's PRL has been granted because he will turn 59 on September 30.

In this situation, he will be on post-retirement leave (PRL) from October 1 to September 30 next year (basically retirement).

Benazir Ahmed was appointed as IGP in April 2020 and took charge in May of that year. Prior to this, he served as the Director General of the elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
