Freight train derails in Tongi

A freight train compartment derailed near Tongi, Gazipur on Wednesday morning.

Following the tragedy, rail service on the up line of the Dhaka-Chattogram route remained suspended.

According to Tongi Railway Station Master Rakib Hossain, the event happened at 4:30 in the morning.

A rescue squad arrived at the scene based on information and retrieved the derailed compartment while a five-person probe body was looking into the situation, the station master added.
