Bangabandhu's killer Rashid's son-in-law jailed in ICT Act case

A Dhaka special tribunal on Thursday sentenced Md Fuad Zaman, husband of Bangabandhu's killer Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan's daughter Shehnaj Rashid Khan, to seven-year rigorous imprisonment in a case lodged under the ICT Act.

Judge Mohammad Ash Shams Zaglul Hossain of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal pronounced the judgment today as the charges framed under section 57 of Information and Communication Technology (Amendment) Act, 2013, were proved beyond any reasonable doubt. The tribunal also fined the convict Taka five thousand.

The convict was present at the dock during the judgment and was later sent to jail with conviction warrant.

Fuad made a derogatory post on his Facebook account regarding the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on August 15, 2018. He also expressed his support for the killers convicted for killing Bangabandhu with most of his family members.

Later on August 30, 2018, the case was filed with Dhanmondi Police Station. Fuad was arrested on September 12, 2018, from city's Hatirjheel area.

Police on July 4, 2019, filed charge-sheet in the case. On January 6, 2021, the tribunal framed charges against Md Fuad Zaman. The tribunal on different hearing dates examined seven witnesses.
