DMP Commissioner Shafiqul to go on retirement on October 30

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DMP) Md Shafiqul Islam would resign on October 30.

The Public Security Division of the Home Ministry published a gazette notice in this regard on Wednesday.

From October 30 of this year to October 29 of the following year, he will be on post-retirement leave (PRL).

According to governmental regulations, he will be eligible for retirement and post-retirement leave benefits.

Shafiqul Islam, a DMP Commissioner, has his term extended for a further year in 2021.

He assumed duty as the 34th Commissioner of DMP on September 13, 2019.

In 1989, as a member of the 8th Bangladesh Civil Service cadre, he started his career as an assistant superintendent of police (ASP).

He previously held the position of Additional Inspector General of Police in the Bangladesh Police's Crime Investigation Bureau.
