Launch, speedboat movement stopped on Barisal-Bhola route

Speedboats and passenger launches have been suspended on the Barisal-Bhola route since Thursday morning.

Common people are suffering because the launch is closed.

It is reported that no launch or speedboat has left Barisal river port and DC wharf with passengers for Bhola since morning. On the other hand, no boat came to Barisal even from Bhola.

The BNP leaders of Barisal say that the boats have been stopped on the Barisal-Bhola route for November 5 due to the mass meeting of the BNP in Barisal.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the process of stopping the passenger launches in the whole of Barisal is now underway after two days of banning of buses and three-wheelers at BNP's divisional mass meeting.

The owners are being pressured by the local Awami League leaders to keep the launch stopped on November 4 and 5. 

As a result, at any time there may be an announcement of stoppage of launch on all the routes of this district.

BNP's Barisal metropolitan convenor Moniruzzaman Khan Farooq said, “After Chittagong, Mymensingh and Khulna, the government would do the same in Barisal too. So we have made such preparations. Many leaders and activists of other districts of the division have already taken up their positions in Barisal.”
