Motorcycles not being banned on highways

Road Transport and Bridges Minister, also Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that the National Road Safety Council has not approved the proposal to ban motorcycles on national highways.

Council president Quader said, “I am giving more importance to control than banning motorcycles on highways. Motorcycles have created employment for many unemployed people in populous Bangladesh. Policies are being regulated rather than prohibited.”

He said these things to reporters at the beginning of the 29th meeting of the National Road Safety Council at the BRTA headquarters in Banani in the capital on Tuesday.
