Electricity prices not increasing at consumer level now: Nasrul Hamid

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that the prices are not increasing at the consumer level.

“People have nothing to worry about,” he said at the secretariat on Monday afternoon when making initial response to the increase in electricity prices at the wholesale level.

The state minister said, “Due to the increase in production costs, the price adjustment of electricity and fuel has to be done all over the world. Prices are not increasing at the consumer level right now. Whether the price will increase or not depends on the field level data. The next decision will be taken after checking everything.”

Regarding the increase in electricity prices at the wholesale level, he further said, 'BERC has taken the decision after considering everything. Earlier they did not increase the price even by announcing. They have done everything carefully.”
