Dhamrai road crash leaves two dead

Two female workers were killed and 30 others injured when a bus carrying workers of a ceramic factory overturned and fell into a ditch on the west side of Khagurta bus stand on the Dhamrai-Saturia regional highway  around 5:30 am on Saturday.

The deceased are Akalima Akhtar, 26, daughter of Madhudanga Abdul Bacher Ali of Dhamrai, also a worker of that factory, and Suraiya Begum (30), daughter of Amir Hossain.

Six people injured critically have been admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar.

Atiqur Rahman, OC of Dhamrai police station, said that the bodies of the two women workers were recovered and brought to the police station.

Meanwhile, police arrested the driver of the bus involved in the accident, he added.
