Couple dies in Konabari fire

Police have recovered the bodies of the husband and wife who were burnt to death in Konabari of Gazipur on Saturday morning.

The incident took place at the house of Shukur Sikder in Sikdarpara area of Konabari police station of the city around 5:30 am.

Konabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) KM Ashraf Uddin said the deceased were Shafiqur Rahman and his wife Nasreen Akhter, both hailed from Dangarhat village of Dimla upazila of Nilphamari.

The police official said, “The couple lived on the ground floor of a six-storey residential building of Shukur Shikdar in Sikdarpara area. The watchman of the house saw the smoke emitting from the ground floor flat and informed the locals on Saturday morning. Later, locals entered the room and found bodies of wife and the husband.”

On information, Konabari Thana Police along with Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies from the spot.
