Cost of power generation should be paid by all: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that it is no longer possible to provide electricity and gas at subsidized prices. 

“Everyone should pay the cost of electricity production. Everyone has also to pay the money spent on gas and transportation,” said the premier while addressing at a function held at the Krishibid Institute in Khamarbari of the capital on the occasion of great Victory Day on Sunday afternoon. 

The PM said, “So far we have had money, we have given subsidies. But we are also affected by the global recession caused by the corona pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war and sanctions. So now you have to pay the subsidy money that has been given on electricity and gas so far.”

“Every time, Awami League leaders and workers have stood by the people. Whenever we have been in government, we have dealt with everything,” she said, adding, “Human power is the greatest power. And Allah is above. Awami League has come to the government with Allah’s mercy and people’s strength.”
