SC upholds HC order for registering Trinamool BNP as political party

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) has upheld a High Court (HC) verdict that declared the registration of former BNP minister Nazmul Huda led Trinamool BNP as a political party, valid. 

Dismissing a civil petition filed by the Election Commission against the High Court order, a three-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed the order on Sunday. 

While Advocate Shah Manjurul Haque spoke on behalf of Nazmul Huda, Advocate Dr. Md. Yeasin Khan represented the EC.

On November 4, 2018, the High Court ruled that Trinamool BNP's registration as a political party was lawful. Later, the EC submitted an appeal of the High Court judgment.
