Dense fog halts flight landing and take off at Shahjalal Airport

Due to dense fog, flight landings and departures at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport have been suspended since Saturday midnight.

According to the related sources, eight flights could not land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport since 12 o'clock on Sunday night due to thick fog. Seven of these flights attempted to land but diverted to Kolkata airport in India due to fog. The other flight is back to Malaysia.

Apart from this, three flights of Arab Emirates, Saudia Airlines and Air Asia could not return due to fog.

Airport officials said seven flights moved to Chittagong as those could not land in Dhaka due to low visibility of the runway due to fog. However, due to lack of space (parking) for planes in Chittagong, they moved to Kolkata. Flights will land if fog conditions improve.
