Abdullah Al Mamun's term extended as IGP

Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun's tenure as Inspector General (IGP) of Bangladesh Police has been extended by one and a half years.

On September 30 of last year, Mamun, the eighth BCS official, took the charge of IGP replacing Dr Benazir Ahmed.

Earlier, Abdullah Al Mamun served in various important positions including Director General of RAB, DIG (Administration) of Police Headquarters, DIG of Dhaka Range, DIG of Mymensingh Range, CID Chief.

Talking to the concerned officials, it is known that in the past there is no precedent for extending the term of the post of IGP on contract in the police force. New history was created by extending the tenure of the current police chief on contractual basis.
