My wife bought only one house in USA: WASA MD

Taksim A Khan, Managing Director (MD) of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA), claimed that the information published in the newspaper about his 14 houses in the United States, is absolutely false.

He said, "Out of the 14 houses mentioned in the report, five houses have been rented by my family for different periods of time. There is only one house bought by my wife. There is no home beyond it.”

He came up with the claim while talking to reporters at Karwan Bazar WASA Bhavan on Tuesday, a day after the High Court ordered the ACC to probe into the allegations.

The Daily Samakal published a report on Monday titled 'WASA Taksim's 14 houses in the US!' The report was prepared on the basis of complaints submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). When a lawyer of the ACC brought the report to the attention of the High Court on Monday, the court said that the ACC can verify the matter.”

WASA MD claimed to the journalists, "The report about the purchase of 14 houses in the United States is completely false. Only one thing is correct in the report that is my US citizenship. My family members are US residents. I was brought from the US and given the responsibility of WASA.”

Taksim A Khan said, his wife and children are well established in the United States, so there is no problem in buying a house there. 

“There is a house in the name of my wife. It can't be called a house either, it's an apartment,” he continued.
