RAB makes enormous strides toward reducing extrajudicial killings

Visiting US Assistant Secretary Donald Lu stated that the number of extrajudicial killings carried out in Bangladesh by the elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has drastically decreased.

Following a meeting with Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen at the ministry in Dhaka On Sunday, the US assistant secretary spoke with press.

US assistant secretary Lu said they had a good discussion about the RAB and he referred to the recent statement issued by the Human Rights Watch that recognised "tremendous progress" in the area of reducing extrajudicial killings. 

"We recognise this. This is an amazing work. It shows that RAB is able to carry out its counterterrorism efforts and important functions while respecting human rights," he said in the press meet.
