Diesel import from India thru pipeline in June: Nasrul Hamid

Diesel import from India through pipeline will start from next June on an experimental basis, said State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid.

Nasrul made the disclosure in question-answer session in the National Parliament on Monday.

Speaker Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury presided over the session in Parliament.

In response to the question of M Abdul Latif, Member of Parliament of the Awami League, State Minister Nasrul Hamid said, 'In order to import diesel from India through the pipeline, about 131.5 km, including 5 km in the Indian part, India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline (IBFP) has been constructed.

"The pre-commissioning process of importing diesel through this pipeline is going on. It is expected that the commissioning of diesel import through this pipeline as well as the experimental import of diesel will start in June,” he added.
