Gas prices hiked for industries, power plants

The government has raised gas prices for industries, power plants, hotels, and restaurants the following month.

A gazette notification issued on Wednesday stated that there will be no change in the price of gas used for domestic purposes, fertilizer production, or the operation of CNG-powered vehicles.

For captive power plants, gas price per unit has been increased to Tk 30 from Tk 16. The price of gas per unit for large industries has been increased to Tk 30 from Tk 11.98 per unit. 

Besides, the price of gas per unit for public and private power plants has been increased to Tk14 from Tk5.2.

In the commercial sector, the price of gas has been increased to Tk30.50 from Tk 26.64. 

However, the price of CNG, gas in homes and factories has not increased.

Before this, gas prices were increased by 23 percent last June.
