EU interested in sending observers to next election: Charles Whiteley

The European Union is quite interested in keeping touch on the next general election in Bangladesh.

On behalf of the eleven-member EU team visiting Bangladesh, Ambassador Charles Whiteley made this statement following Wednesday's meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal.

"We are pretty encouraged by the encouraging comments by the Bangladesh administration regarding permitting foreign observers," he told the press.

He insisted that they covered a wide range of election preparation-related issues.

He went on to say that everyone wants an inclusive, calm, and fair election since that is what is best for everyone.

The national election is anticipated to hold early in January of the following year.
