5 die of Nipah virus: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahid Maleque said that five people have so far died of Nipah virus in the country.

He made the disclosure while talking to the journalists in the meeting room of the Ministry of Health at the Secretariat on Sunday.

The health minister said that a total of eight people have been infected with Nipah virus in the country and five of them have died.

Healthy people can also get infected with this virus if they come in contact with an infected person,he said, adding that there is no antidote of this virus.

To prevent the spread of this virus, the minister advised not to consume raw date juice and fruits eaten by birds.
