Wholesale, retail electricity prices go up from Wednesday

The government has increased the price of electricity at wholesale and retail level.

This price will be effective from February 1, said a gazette notification issued on Monday and circulated on Tuesday.

The average price per unit has been increased by 5 percent. In the last 14 years, electricity prices have increased for the 11th time at the consumer level.

Earlier, BERC increased electricity prices by 19.92 percent at the wholesale level last November effective from December. This was the 10th wholesale price hike in 14 years.
