585 people die in 593 traffic accidents in January

There were 593 traffic incidents nationwide last month that resulted in at least 585 deaths and 899 injuries, according to Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity.

The organization said 214 motorcycle-related traffic accidents during this time resulted in 114 injuries and the deaths of 205 persons.

The samity gathered the information in response to media reports and made it public on Saturday via a news release.
