Belgium Queen Mathilde arrives in Dhaka

Mathilde, Queen of Belgium, arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning to begin a three-day working visit to Bangladesh as an advocate for the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The Queen arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 9:30 a.m. She was welcomed by Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.

The Queen intends to monitor and support Bangladesh's progress in the areas of mental health, preventing domestic abuse, empowering women economically, and girls' education.

She is also interested in environmental issues' solutions.

According to the Belgian Royal Palace, the Queen will also go to Kutupalong, the biggest refugee camp in the world and home to more than a million Rohingyas.

She will visit projects in Dhaka and the Khulna district as one of the 17 SDG Advocates of the UN.
